Portrait of Dr. Markus Schiller

Dr. Markus Schiller holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering from the Technical University of Munich. From 2006 to 2015 he worked at Schmucker Technologie, a security and space consultancy in Munich, where he carried out OSINT (open source intelligence) on missile systems and programmes before the term became widely known. In 2010/2011 he held a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellowship at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California.

In 2015 he founded ST Analytics, a company specialising in space technology, security and threat analysis and, of course, rockets and missile systems, including microlaunchers and other space applications. He also provides expert opinions on New Space start-ups.

Since 2015 he has taught an annual course on missiles at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich (“Fernflugkörper”, master’s programme in engineering). He is a non-resident fellow at the Liechtenstein Institute at Princeton University, a member of the advisory board of the Missile Dialogue Initiative (MDI) and an associate senior researcher at SIPRI. He also supports the Munich-based consultancy AMDC with analyses of missile threats and missile defence.
